Jaipur: Income tax department has registered a case of alleged forgery in Ashok Nagar police station against unidentified persons for sending a fake IT notice to a resident of Jaipur. The fake notice had been sent to Abhishek Godha and the matter came to light when his representative met the IT department officials regarding the notice.
Once we get their statements, we will prepare a possible list of suspects who could have sent the notice on behalf of the IT department.”
The notice had signature of a senior IT official and the department claimed that the signature had been forged.“We came to know about the forgery when a representative of Godha came to meet me.
The person who had forged the letter had put wrong email address as well, so we do not get to know of the forgery.
I immediately noticed that although the letter had been signed in my name, it was not my signature.
