Army's hot air ballooning expedition halts at Chandimandir

CHANDIGARH: Indian Army 's Trans India Hot Air Ballooning Expedition 'Jai Bharat' which is being organised from Jammu to Kanyakumari from December 6-29, made a halt at Chandimandir military station on Saturday.The expedition team also conducted an Aero show at Raina Stadium located inside the station.The team leader Lt Col Vivek Ahalawat was handed over the expedition flag by Lt Gen P M Bali, Chief of Staff, Western Command, who later interacted with the members of the expedition team. The Aero show was also witnessed by a large number of audience including school children.An official spokesperson of the Western Command informed that this will be the longest ever hot air ballooning expedition in India.The expedition is to mark the 75th year of raising of Corps of Electronics and Mechanical Engineers and 150th year of raising of two JAK Rifles Battalion.The expedition is aimed at connecting with the youth of our country and motivate them to join the Indian Army and also to pay homage and tribute to our martyrs and torch bearers who sacrificed their lives for the cause of the nation.The expedition team will be halting at various places across the country and also organising Aero shows for motivating youth of the country.The expedition will be flagged off on Sunday by Maj Gen S K Dutta of the Western Command for their further movement towards Sonipat
