Sharda student who joined J&K terrorists returns on kin's appeal

SRINAGAR: Former Sharda University Kashmiri student Ehtisham Bilal Sofi, 23, who had joined ISJK (J&K chapter of the Islamic State) after "disappearing" from Noida on October 28, "surrendered" before the police on Sunday. "A police officer of Srinagar city, North zone, confirmed that the student-turned-militant was taken into custody for questioning. Etisham's mother had also appealed to ISJK chief Zakir Musa to send back her "only son. "He arrived home today but was picked up by the police," said his father Bilal Ahmed Sofi, adding that the family had made an appeal to Ehtisham to shun terrorism and return home. In the next few days, Ehtisham and other Afghani and Kashmiri students allegedly faced hate speeches by student groups, which also demanded their evictionOn October 28, he informed his hostel warden and his father that he is going on a trip to Delhi but went missing and later it was revealed that Ehtisham had joined the ISJK.
