Javed Mustafa Mir, senior PDP leader, resigns from party

Former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) minister Javed Mustafa Mir resigned from the party on on Saturday. Jammu & Kashmir: Former PDP minister Javed Mustafa Mir has resigned from the party. Mir’s father was Mustafa Mir, a veteran political leader who was shot dead by terrorists in 1990s. Besides five MLAs, several senior leaders, including Raja Aijaz, Mehboob Iqbal, Runiyal and Peer Mohammad Hussain, resigned from the party recently. "I have decided to quit from the basic membership of the PDP and will forward my resignation to the party on Sunday morning," Mir told a local news house.

Mir contested from the Chadura assembly constituency in 2002 as a PDP candidate and won the election, in the 2008 and 2014 assembly elections too, Mir retained the seat. Mir’s father was Mustafa Mir, a veteran political leader who was shot dead by terrorists in 1990s. Besides five MLAs, several senior leaders, including Raja Aijaz, Mehboob Iqbal, Runiyal and Peer Mohammad Hussain, resigned from the party recently.
