Mayor Commissioner take stock of flood affected areas

Excelsior CorrespondentJAMMU Aug 3: Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) Mayor Chander Mohan Gupta along with Avny Lavasa Commissioner JMC here today toured different flood affected localities in Wards 30 40 and 14. They took stock of the situation arisen due to incessant rain of last night and overflowing of various Nallas at Vishal Nagar Talab Tillo Durga Nagar Sec-2 Bhagwati Nagar and other localities. Karlupia asked the Mayor and Commissioner that necessary directions be passed to the Engineering Section of JMC to start work on urgent basis for boundary wall of the Nallah for which estimate of Rs. The Mayor and Commissioner along with Neelam Kumari Councillor Ward 40 also toured Durga Nagar Sec-2 Talab Tillo where the Nallah flowing in the locality has overflowed and dirty water silt scattered on lanes during last night rain. They appealed to the general public to stop throwing garbage silt polythene etc in Nallas and also remove encroachments from Nallas of their own.

Sat Pal Karlupia Councillor Ward 32 prominent locals of the Ward Kishore Kumar Executive Engineer Ashish Bhasin Assistant Executive Engineer Division-II concerned field staff of Health and Transport Section of JMC were also present. Karlupia asked the Mayor and Commissioner that necessary directions be passed to the Engineering Section of JMC to start work on urgent basis for boundary wall of the Nallah for which estimate of Rs. 2.83 lakh has been prepared and submitted for approval in JMC so that inhabitants especially those living in low lying areas of Vishal Nagar and adjoining localities may not suffer any more during rainy season. The Mayor and Commissioner along with Neelam Kumari Councillor Ward 40 also toured Durga Nagar Sec-2 Talab Tillo where the Nallah flowing in the locality has overflowed and dirty water silt scattered on lanes during last night rain. The team also visited Bhagwati Nagar & its adjoining localities of Ward 14 along with Parmod Kapahi Councillor of the Ward and they met with locals who apprised them that although JMC has deployed its men and machinery for de-silting the Nallah yet it overflowed at certain spots and the water entered residential locality causing inconvenience. The Mayor and Commissioner listened grievances and passed on spot directions to the concerned Engineers of UEED Engineering Transport and Health Sections of JMC to take immediate preventive measures in terms of de-silting and re-modelling of these Nallas as soon as possible. They appealed to the general public to stop throwing garbage silt polythene etc in Nallas and also remove encroachments from Nallas of their own.
