Kerala floods: Kochi Metro services resumed for rescue operations

KOCHI: Even though Kochi Metro Rail Ltd (KMRL) had suspended metro services till 4pm on Thursday, the metro agency decided to resume the services as part of rescue operations carried out in the city. The metro agency clarified that they have set up a temporary operations control centre (OCC) at Muttom metro station The metro agency said they are closely monitoring the flood situation at Muttom. "The services were resumed by 4pm and will be focusing on rescue operations. However, the frequency of the services will be less, and trains will move at a very slow speed of 25km/ hour. The services will be provided free of charges," said KMRL spokesperson.

The metro agency clarified that they have set up a temporary operations control centre (OCC) at Muttom metro station The metro agency said they are closely monitoring the flood situation at Muttom. “The source of power is also becoming an issue because Kaloor 110kv substation has been shut down by KSEB at 10.29pm on Wednesday. Muttom depot is surrounded by water and the road access to the depot has been cut off,” added the spokesperson.The agency said full-fledged services will begin once the water level comes down and the metro’s systems get restored in good condition.
