No one was injured in the incident. The derailment, sources said, happened due to lapses in following standard procedures while providing signals for train passage.Four officials, including a station manager, two pointsmen and a signal department engineer have been placed under suspension pending inquiry. Sources said track renewal works were going on and the automatic signalling system was temporarily disabled for it.A railway official said trains could have been received on-the-line by providing signals manually even as the control panel was disconnected.“Officials failed to ensure proper clamping of the tracks before providing manual signal and the failure on the part of the station manager to monitor the activities led to the mishap,” said the official.Officials said the train was moving slowly due to speed restriction and it averted a major tragedy.
