KOCHI: Two youths, who were friends and neighbours, were killed in a motorbike accident at Udayamperoor on Tuesday night. The deceased are Vishnu Raj (18) and Arjun Swaminathan (26), both residents of South Paravur near Thandasseril temple. The incident happened around 11.30pm when the motorbike they were travelling on hit a car that was coming from the opposite direction, at Puthenkavu on Tripunithura-Vaikom Road.According to Udayamperoor police, both Arjun and Vishnu were returning after having dinner at a hotel in the area. The accident happened when the car heading for Vaikom from Poothottam hit the two-wheeler, which was trying to overtake another vehicle. Arjun was riding the motorbike at the time of the accident and both of them were thrown to the road in the impact of the collision.“Both of them suffered severe injuries. The motorists, who passed by, shifted the duo to a nearby hospital but both succumbed to injuries later. We have registered a case against the car driver under Section 304 (A) for culpable homicide not amounting to murder. The driver has been summoned and a probe is on,” said the police.
