“The stab wounds were deep and her upper body including face and neck suffered severe burns in the attack. Despite the best efforts she finally succumbed to the injuries,” said the spokesperson.Her body was shifted to the hospital mortuary and will be handed over to the police for post mortem and other formalities on Thursday, the spokesperson said. KOCHI: Kavitha Vijayakumar , the 19-year-old girl who was set ablaze by her spurned lover in Thiruvalla last week, succumbed to her injuries in hospital on Wednesday around 6pm.The girl, who sustained two grave stab wounds and 60% burns, was undergoing treatment at the Burn ICU of a private hospital in Ernakulam since 13 March after she was stabbed and set ablaze by a youth, named Ajin Reji Mathew (18), when she rejected his proposal of love.The hospital spokesperson said that the girl’s condition has been serious and was under ventilator support until she passed away.
