'Society must fight caste discrimination'

KOCHI: In a real democratic country, changes could be brought only if the society fights against caste discrimination, said Radhika Vemula, mother of Rohit Vemula.Rohit, a PhD scholar and an active member of Ambedkar Students' Association (ASA) committed suicide in January 2016, sparking nationwide protests over allegations of caste discrimination. She said this after inaugurating Dakshayani Velayudhan Centre for Women's Studiesat Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit (SSUS), Kalady , on Thursday.
