more-in The police on Tuesday arrested one more person in connection with the death of Tony Mathew inside the Thattekkad reserve forests last week. The arrested has been identified as Basil who had sustained serious injuries in a wild elephant attack last week after entering the forest with a group including the deceased. The police had earlier arrested Shyte Joseph and Ajesh, other members of the group, in this connection. The trio were produced in a local court and remanded to custody. Meanwhile, the police have initiated proceedings to conduct a scientific examination of the firearm recovered from the group. While earlier reports pointed to Tony being killed by a wild elephant, investigations later revealed that he had been accidentally shot by Shyte while escaping the elephant attack. Based on the finding, a case has been registered against the trio for culpable homicide and illegal possession of the firearm. The group, which had entered the forest for hunting, was attacked by a tusker near Kavala Point.
