Smart police stations to be ready by May 1

All the police stations in the district will be transformed into Smart police stations by May 1.Special Inspector General of Kolhapur Range Vishwas Nangre Patil said, "Our aim is to ensure all the police stations in Kolhapur range become Smart. KOLHAPUR: The police department has initiated works in some of the police stations to turn Kolhapur district into a 'Smart' district. The work has already begun and we have given a deadline to the concerned consulting service to ensure all the police stations in Kolhapur district are transformed into Smart police stations by May. "Kolhapur range includes Kolhapur, Sangli and Satara districts along with Pune rural and Solapur rural. Soon, we will take up works at other police stations in the district and complete the works by May 1.

KOLHAPUR: The police department has initiated works in some of the police stations to turn Kolhapur district into a 'Smart' district. All the police stations in the district will be transformed into Smart police stations by May 1.Special Inspector General of Kolhapur Range Vishwas Nangre Patil said, "Our aim is to ensure all the police stations in Kolhapur range become Smart. The work has already begun and we have given a deadline to the concerned consulting service to ensure all the police stations in Kolhapur district are transformed into Smart police stations by May."Kolhapur range includes Kolhapur, Sangli and Satara districts along with Pune rural and Solapur rural. Satara district has already been declared as first the Smart district in the state by chief minister Devendra Fadnavis in February 2018.Sejal Rupgal, lead auditor of the consulting firm working on the project, said, "We have completed the basic infrastructure work in Shahuwadi division. Now, we are working at the office of the IG, Superintendent of Police and Karveer division. Soon, we will take up works at other police stations in the district and complete the works by May 1."Under the Smart endeavour, all the police stations should have facilities for people and be linked to the police headquarters through a wireless communication system and CCTV cameras. The lock-ups should be in good condition and each police station should have adequate weapons and ammunition with sufficient staff."The staff should actively use technology to increase their efficiency and must use e-mails, whatsapp and other methods to speed up communication. The police stations should have adequate vehicles to quickly respond to the situations in their jurisdiction and have a computerised record of the criminals in their jurisdiction," said Rupgal.
