Rain to continue with normal intensity in district this week

The IMD officials said the district will receive heavy rainfall on Tuesday also.Mahabaleshwar received 95mm rainfall during the 24 hours ended at 8am on Monday. Navaja region received 108mm rainfall and Koyna dam catchment area received 100mm. Total 26 KT weirs in the district are under water and the number may increase further if the rain continues at the same intensity, an official from district collectorate said.Kolhapur district received 11.39mm rainfall with Gaganbawada taluka receiving the highest of 27.5mm in the 24 hours ended at 8am on Monday. While 38,299 cusecs water was being discharged on Sunday, it was increased to 49,055 cusecs since Monday morning. The rainfall in Mahabaleshwar, Navaja and Koyna on Sunday was 30mm, 30mm and 36mm, respectively.The gates of Koyna dam, which were closed on Friday following the reduction in the intensity of rainfall, were opened again on Sunday morning.

KOLHAPUR: The Kolhapur and Sangli districts will receive normal rainfall this week, while the catchment areas of dams in south Maharashtra will get heavy showers, India Meteorological Department officials said on Monday.According to irrigation department officials, almost all the dams in the region are filled to their capacity.Meanwhile, Satara district received heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places in the ghat areas on Monday.
