Rs 18 lakh stolen from locker of departmental store in Peth Vadgaon

KOLHAPUR: Unidentified men broke open a locker of a departmental store called Warna Bazaar on the Vadgaon-Latavade road and decamped with Rs 18 lakh cash during the intervening night of Sunday and Monday.The departmental store is a three-storey building and the locker was kept on the second floor. We are unable to find out who came and left the mall.”Kale further said the departmental store was guarded by three security persons at a time. “The locks of the departmental store were not broken which suggests that the suspects may have used duplicate keys to open it. The incident came to light on Monday morning when an official of the store found the locker broken. However, we could get some finger prints from the spot that can help us reach the suspects.

The incident came to light on Monday morning when an official of the store found the locker broken. The incident has been registered at Peth Vadgaon police station.Assistant police inspector in-charge of Peth Vadgaon police station Pradeep Kale said, “No sooner we got information than we rushed to the spot with a team of dog squad and finger print experts. The dog squad could not give us any constructive leads regarding the incident. However, we could get some finger prints from the spot that can help us reach the suspects. The suspects also ran away with the DVR of the CCTV cameras. We are unable to find out who came and left the mall.”Kale further said the departmental store was guarded by three security persons at a time. However, even they were not aware of the incident. “The locks of the departmental store were not broken which suggests that the suspects may have used duplicate keys to open it. We have registered a case against unidentified persons under several sections of IPC. We will nab the suspects soon,” said Kale.
