Happy street comes to Rankala in Kolhapur

On Sunday, Kolhapurkars visited the lake in hundreds for Happy Streets . The migratory bird influx to Rankala lake was not the only thing enlivening it. People were seen enjoying the traffic free roads to walk, dance, work out with ropes etc. The initiative encourages people to use non-motorised transport and to come out on the streets.The area came alive with a wide array activity. Many groups came out to showcase their skills, be it in music or in Mardani khel Indian Martial Arts ).The initiative aims to highlight problems typical of any city – cars usurping roads, shrinking space for pedestrians and cyclists and the air pollution shooting up.
