First phase of hill temple development work starts

Patil said that the government has sanctioned Rs10 crore on Saturday and work on the Darshan Mandap at the Mahalaxmi temple will start soon. Recently, the Kolhapur Municipal Corporation (KMC) has decided to change the reservation of the land plot from the parking to the Darshan Mandap. The Darshan Mandap will help make the darshan of god Jotiba hassle-free. The proposal has been sent to the state government, which needs to be approved as early as possible so that the work of the Darshan Mandap can start at the Mahalaxmi temple. The hill temple attracts lakhs of worshippers every year to its premises.

Kolhapur: The first phase of the construction works of the facilities for the worshippers of the Jotiba temple started on Sunday.The state government has approved a proposal of Rs25 crore to develop various facilities at the Jotiba temple, located in the Wadi Ratnagiri village in Panhala taluka, around 20km from the city. The hill temple attracts lakhs of worshippers every year to its premises. The state government has released Rs5 crore for the first phase of works, which includes a Darshan Mandap as well as certain sanitation facilities.Speaking at the inauguration of the construction work, district guardian minister Chandrakant Patil said, “The rest of the funds will be made available soon by the state government so that the rest of the works are also carried out simultaneously. The Darshan Mandap will help make the darshan of god Jotiba hassle-free. I expect the work to be completed as early as possible.”The Jotiba temple development plan also includes the construction of an amphitheatre, a rain water harvesting unit, a Bhakt Niwas with 22 rooms and three large halls, setting up sewage and garbage processing facilities and renovation of the central plaza as well as the temple premises.The state government has also approved the Mahalaxmi (Ambabai) temple development plan of Rs89 crore. Patil said that the government has sanctioned Rs10 crore on Saturday and work on the Darshan Mandap at the Mahalaxmi temple will start soon. Recently, the Kolhapur Municipal Corporation (KMC) has decided to change the reservation of the land plot from the parking to the Darshan Mandap. The proposal has been sent to the state government, which needs to be approved as early as possible so that the work of the Darshan Mandap can start at the Mahalaxmi temple. Also, the KMC is planning to take up the work to construct a multi-level parking facility at Venus Corner, the land plot that has been cleared from encroachments.
