KOLHAPUR: Taking a potshot at the BJP rule at the Centre, NCP chief Sharad Pawar on Sunday said the "chowkidars of the country" have cheated all sections of society by making fake promises of jobs and good governance and would be shown their real place during the Lok Sabha elections.Pawar was speaking at the joint campaign of Congress-NCP alliance in Karad. NCP candidate Udayanraje Bhosale is contesting from Satara.Pawar said, "From the last five years, we are seeing how power is being misused and people are being cheated by the government. The issue of farmer suicides is still there. Around 12,000 farmers committed suicide in Maharashtra during Modi's rule. Suicides happened even when we were in power, but we took steps to provide relief to the farmers. We waived Rs70,000 crore loan of farmers."He said, " The government has cheated all sections of society by making false promises on jobs and good governance. They have cheated Marathas, Dhangars, Dalits and Muslims over the reservation issue. Those who claim to be 'chowkidars' have looted the country."Congress leader Prithviraj Chavan said, "The BJP is a threat to the democracy. If they reyurn to power, there will be no elections and the Constitution will be in danger."Swabhimani Shetkari Sanghatana chief Raju Shetti said, "The BJP government showed the 'Acche Din' dream to people. But people have seen the worst days in the last five years."
