Kolhapur: The Shahupuri police station on Saturday booked two unidentified men for stealing a bag containing Rs 1.5 lakh near Tawade Hotel.According to the police, the incident occurred on Friday night and the complainant — identified as 38-year-old Sunil Kokate — runs an imitation jewellery business at a shop in Gandhinagar."After finishing work, Kokate locked his shop and took the cash in the bag he was carrying with him. He was travelling on his motorcycle and had to stop after crossing the national highway as it started to rain. He parked his biked to wear a raincoat few meters away from his bike," said a police officer."While he was busy, two men riding on a motorcycle approached his bike and took away the bag containing cash. Kokate raised an alarm for help, but passers-by could not get hold of the culprits. He immediately informed our police station based on which we launched nakabandi, but we could not trace them," he added.The officer said the police were trying to find if the suspect duo was captured in any of the closed-circuit television cameras on the road. "Other than cash, Kokate had also kept important documents like passbooks and other material in the bag," he said.
