Police station detection branches to be reorganised soon

The role of the detective branches is to detect crimes, nab criminals and keep a tab on illegal activities that are run in their jurisdiction. ""The new staff will replace the existing staff soon at particular police stations. "He added, "We hope that replacing the existing personnel with new ones will help increase the efficiency of the detective branch teams and ultimately result in increased crime detection. We are also not happy with their work of keeping a check on criminal activities. The step will help in increased policing in the district.

Kolhapur: The detection branches of all police stations will be reorganised to bring discipline among the police force and increase staff efficiency, according to superintendent of police (SP) Sanjay Mohite.New staff in place of existing police personnel will also be appointed soon.Mohite on Monday had conducted a meeting of all senior police officers from across the district to discuss security arrangements in the backdrop of Muharram, Navaratra celebrations, and the forthcoming grampanchayat elections.During the meeting he asked police officials to reshuffle staff and appoint new police personnel at the detection branches of every police station.He also asked the officials to hand over different responsibilities to the existing staff of the detection branch on priority basis.Mohite said, "We are not satisfied with the detective branches' progress in investigation of cases and detection of crime. We are also not happy with their work of keeping a check on criminal activities. The role of the detective branches is to detect crimes, nab criminals and keep a tab on illegal activities that are run in their jurisdiction."He added, "We hope that replacing the existing personnel with new ones will help increase the efficiency of the detective branch teams and ultimately result in increased crime detection.""The new staff will replace the existing staff soon at particular police stations. We need not conduct transfer of any police officials for the purpose," he said.According to police sources, recent incidents of house break-in, chain snatching and theft that have been reported in various parts of the district including Kolhapur city has resulted in SP Mohite taking such a decision. The step will help in increased policing in the district.
