Kolhapur: The Sindhudurg police recovered an unidentifed body at Kawalesad point of Amboli ghat area on Saturday.The police are trying to find out the identity of the deceased. However, a Chothewad-based family has come forward as identified the body as Vijaykumar Gurav, who was a school teacher and had been missing since November 6."We recovered the body with the help of local residents on Saturday evening. The body was decomposed and was sent to Oros civil hospital for autopsy. We are investigating to identify the body and cause of death," said a police officer attached with Sawantwadi police station where the case has been registered."Some people from Gadhinglaj taluka visited the civil hospital and claimed that they have identified the person who is from Chotewad village in Gadhinglaj taluka. As per their claim, the man went missing from home since the night of November 6 and did not return home. A case of missing was registered at Gadhinglaj police station," he added.The officer said that they will be conducting a DNA test to confirm the claims of the family. "We are gathering information about Gurav and people that were closely associated with him. Once we get all the details about him including the DNA report, if we will get a confirmation about the person and will hand over the body to the family members," he said.
