90-year-old immolates self on pyre

KOLHAPUR : A 90-year-old woman allegedly committed suicide by setting herself ablaze on a pyre she built at her residence in Bamani village, Kagal taluka, around 30km south of Kolhapur , on Monday. Kallavvu would occasionally visit her three daughters who live in nearby villages in Kolhapur. Kallavvu Kamble , was living alone in her old three room house since the last 15 years. Her son, Vittal (57), lives barely 50ft away and would provide her with all her meals. He works as a conductor with MSRTC.
