Protest marchThe teachers took out a protest march from the Government Model Higher Secondary School, the main evaluation centre in the district, to S.K. According to Shemeem Ahmed, convener, FHSTA, over 80% of the teachers in the 10 evaluation camps in the district participated in the protest. Members of the Federation of Higher Secondary School Teachers’ Association (FHSTA) boycotted the evaluation of Plus Two answer scripts in the district on Wednesday in protest against the State government’s move to merge the Higher Secondary Directorate with the Department of Public Instruction. Abdul Khader, State treasurer of the association, said that the teachers would be forced to go on an indefinite strike if the State government did not withdraw the proposal. Those on probation were excluded.
