In a press release, S. Kaliraj Mahesh Kumar, District Police Chief (Kozhikode city), said the screenshots of such messages should be sent via WhatsApp to 9497976009. The police have urged the public to inform the Cyber Cell, Kozhikode city, if they come across any text, audio, or video messages that may provoke communal tension or violence. The police apprehends that efforts were on to disrupt communal harmony in the city in the guise of protesting against the incident. It was to protest against the gruesome rape and murder of an eight-year-old girl at Kathua in Jammu and Kashmir. Prohibitory orders have been imposed in the city under Sections 78 and 79 of the Kerala Police Act in the wake of the continuing violence following Monday’s hartal call by social media groups.
