The murder took place when the family members were planning to bring him back home as he was reportedly unhappy with the stay there. Centre, the police team entrusted with the probe has not visited the victim’s family in Wayanad district and recorded their statement for further investigation. Majeed’s close family members from Panamaram panchayat said no police officer from Kozhikode district had contacted them though they had submitted a complaint to the Kozhikode City Police Commissioner seeking a fair reinvestigation. Majeed was stabbed to death on July 14, nearly a month after his admission to the institution for religious studies. The social media campaign, undertaken by some individuals and groups projecting Majeed as a martyr soon after the murder, has also provoked the family.
