Govt to devise mechanism to rein in substance abuse among students

KOZHIKODE: The government will devise a mechanism involving the public to curb substance abuse in schools and colleges, Education Minister C. Ravindranath has said. Awareness programmes would be held for parents and students and a special module would be prepared in a month. The State Council for Educational Research and Training had begun a study to find out if it was possible to include the campaign against substance abuse in the school syllabus. The meeting here was the second of the three meetings being held by the committee to collect opinion from the people. The priority was to stop the availability of drugs and alcohol around the premises of educational institutions.
