LUCKNOW: A hotel manager's body was found on Saturday in the lift duct of the hotel where he worked in Manaknagar The victim's wife has lodged a murder case against six people, including the hotel owner and his brother.According to the police, Suresh Chandra (60) of Indrapuri locality in Krishnanagar had been missing for a day. Police said he had left home on Friday at 8pm for his work place in Manakanagar. However, he did not return home after his duty was over on Saturday morning. His wife Girija said his phone was switched off during this time. Along with her sons, she reached the hotel and met Chandra's colleague Ajeet, who told them that Chandra had left for his house after signing in the attendance register.A panicked Girija then began a search for Chandra. However, he could not be traced anywhere. Around 4pm, she and her relatives again reached the hotel and created a ruckus to locate Chandra.It was only then that hotel owner Pradeep Uthani and his brother Hansraj told them that Chandra had probably died after falling in a duct of the lift at the hotel. They said sweepers of the hotel had seen his body in the duct at 3.30pm on Saturday. Uthani then even showed them Chandra's body lying in the duct.As Girija questioned them about why they had not immediately informed her, an argument ensued.As the ruckus escalated, police reached the scene. SHO Manaknagar Santosh Kushwaha said Girja alleged that Pradeep, Hansraj, his son and hotel employees Aviral, Ajeet and Guddu had killed Chandra and hidden his body in the duct to claim an accidental death. They have been named in the case."I had apprehensions that my husband was opposing some nefarious acts of the miscreants. He was killed for this," she alleged.SHO Manaknagar said the body had injuries on the face. Statements of the accused are being taken.
