Of the protesting lekhpals in the state, 235 are in Lucknow.Over 50,000 applications for various kinds certificates and land related requests are pending since the lekhpals announced the strike. Following the orders of the state government, district magistrate Kaushal Raj Sharma sent a termination notice to 44 probationary lekhpals, while 17 lekhpals have been issued suspension orders till further notification and 171 were issued service break notices.Additional district magistrate ( ADM ) administration SP Gupta said of the 235 protesting lekhpals, only three have joined duty. LUCKNOW: The district administration issued a letter of termination to 44 probationary lekhpals, on Thursday, who continued their statewide strike despite the UP government's decision to ban the agitation under the provisions of Essential Service Maintenance Act ( ESMA ).Over 38,000 lekhpals are on strike across the state since June 26 and are demanding a salary hike , change in designation and change the minimum eligibility criteria for appointment from intermediate to graduate.
