LUCKNOW: A day after the CBI filed a chargesheet against BJP MLA Kuldeep Sengar in the Unnao rape case , the party's state president Mahendra Nath Pandey on Thursday said action would be taken against the legislator. "The Yogi Adityanath government handed over the probe against Sengar to the CBI following the death of the rape survivor's father in police custody. The party will sack Sengar if he is convicted," Pandey told TOI. The case has caused much embarrassment to the party at a time when it is gearing up to take on a united opposition in 2019 Lok Sabha polls, according to senior BJP leaders in UP. "The opposition may sharpen its attack on the government and the party," said a senior leader.
