LUCKNOW: On Friday, Uttar Pradesh BJP president said there is some “good news” on way for Ayodhya for Diwali . The statement has brought the focus back on a proposed statue of Ram there, first announced by the Yogi Adityanath government in October 2017.The government said it plans to build a 100-mt-tall statue of Ram on the banks of Saryu in Ayodhya. However, there is no clarity on whether this is the ‘good news’ Pandey was referring to. Yogi will be in Ayodhya on Tuesday to celebrate Diwali on a grand scale, a practice that began last year when the BJP came to power.Sources said the CM is likely to also inspect sites where the statue can be installed. No deadline for the statue was set either.Pandey’s remarks came two days after Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled an 182-mt-tall statue of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel in Gujarat.While the UP government has not announced any time frame for the Ram statue, Yogi has been training the spotlight on Ayodhya and had said that there is ‘no doubt’ that the spot where Ram Lala’s idols are placed is Ramjanmabhoomi.A day before Pandey’s statement, the chief minister had said he would be going to Ayodhya with some ‘good news’.
