Fountains landscaping to beautify Gulala and Kudiya ghats soon

LUCKNOW: The oldest cremation ghat, Gulala ghat and the historic Kudiya ghat are set to be renovated as the Lucknow Municipal Corporation is coming up with the beautification plan for the two ghats.The LMC will send a proposal for the same to the government by November end.The beautification will include setting up of a new electric crematorium at Gulala ghat which currently has 42 traditional platforms available for cremation by wood .

LUCKNOW: The oldest cremation ghat, Gulala ghat and the historic Kudiya ghat are set to be renovated as the Lucknow Municipal Corporation is coming up with the beautification plan for the two ghats.The LMC will send a proposal for the same to the government by November end.The beautification will include setting up of a new electric crematorium at Gulala ghat which currently has 42 traditional platforms available for cremation by wood . If set up, the electric crematorium will be the second after Baikunth Dham which till date, is the only electric crematorium in the city.The projects, said to be close to Rs 8 crore together, include beautification of the two ghats by putting up fountains landscaping , and repair among other things.LMC commissioner Indramani Tripathi said, "A detailed project report of the beautification of the two ghats is being prepared and a few rounds of inspection of the area have also been done by the municipal body along with the district administration."Emphasizing on the projects, chief engineer, LMC zone 6, Fareed Akhtar Zaidi, said, "For Kudiya ghat apart from repair and landscaping, the project will include a community toilet, two fountains and benches.
