Member secretary, UP Pollution Control Board, Ashish Tiwari said: "We had communicated CPCB order to the LMC with direction to comply it within 45 days."

LUCKNOW: Two more garbage transfer stations located in residential areas will be shut soon, bringing relief to lakhs of citizens who had been complaining of stink and threat of disease outbreak from these stations.The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) had directed Lucknow Municipal Corporation to close the two garbage stations - at Priyadarshini colony on Sitapur Road and Faizullaganj in Old City - after it found that they were violating National Green Tribunal guidelines."Of four garbage transfer stations in the city, the one at Dubagga was shut in October while another at Vikas Khand, Gomtinagar, was closed on December 3. The remaining two will also be closed soon," said LMC environment engineer Pankaj Bhushan. He said garbage of the two stations, which have been closed, is now sent directly to Shivri waste plant and added that an alternate spots are being searched for the other two garbage stations.
