Besides, 32 other police stations being set up in the 20 sectors of Kumbh Mela area have been named after prominent religious personalities, who have been allotted land on the campus as well as the activities they will carry out, like Mahamandleshwar thana, Sanskriti Dham thana, Anna Kshetra thana, etc.Additional SP (Kumbh Mela) Neeraj Pandey said: "Renaming of Kumbh police stations is a first-of-its-kind initiative after Independence. Besides, we have also named 40 police stations after prominent seers, who have been allotted land for akharas and the activities they will undertake during Kumbh. Similarly, Sangam, Mahila Thana-Sanga, Quila Ghat Jal Police and Akshayvat police stations have been set up in sector III, while Mahavir JI and Shastri Bridge have been set up at sector IV. "He said police stations of Malaviya Park, Mahatma Gandhi Marg and Saraswati Ghat have been set up in sector I while Kotwali, Parade and Alopi Bagh are in sector II.

ALLAHABAD: After renaming Allahabad as Prayagraj, the administration has renamed 30 of the 40 police stations on the sprawling Kumbh mela campus.Among them, four old police stations - Minto Park, MG Marg, IZAT Bridge and Naini Bridge -have been renamed for the first time since 1977 after great personalities like Madan Mohan Malaviya, Mahatma Gandhi, Lal Bahadur Shastri and Shyama Prasad Mukherjee.They would now be known as Mahamana Malaviya Park, Mahatma Gandhi Marg, Shastri Bridge and Mukherjee Setu police stations, respectively. Sectors V and VI have one thana each - Khak Chowk and Naagbasuki, respectively.In sector no VII, two police stations have been named as Bhardwaj and Gangeshwar Mahadeo, while Narayani Ashram thana has been set up in sector VIII.There would be one each police station each in sectors IX to XIII and known as Jhunsi North, Ram-Janki, Mahamandleshwar Nagar, Anna Kshetra and Acharya Nagar police stations, respectively.In sector no XIV, police station has been named as Roadways Jhunsi as it falls outside mela campus. Besides, GT Jhunsi thana has also been set up in the same sector.Thana Kalpwasi has been set up in sector XV and Kotwali Jhunsi thana and Akhara thana have also been set up in sector XVI.Six police stations — Ganga Prasar Ksherta, Lower Sangam Jal Police Jhunsi, Mahila Thana (Jhunsi), Chatnag, South Jhunsi and Nageshwar Mahadeo — have been set up in sector XVII.Moreover, two police stations — Mukherji Setu and Sachcha Baba Jal Police Arial — have been set up in sector XVIII. Similarly, four police stations — Kotwali (Arial), Mahila Thana, Someshwar Mahadeo and Sanskriti Gram — have been set up in sector XIX.
