No headway in double murder and dacoity case

LUCKNOW: Eight days after the Krishnanagar sensational double murder and dacoity case, a red-faced police have failed to make any significant headway. They also claimed a west UP connection with the recovery of five .30 bore bullet shells, rarely used in Lucknow but used there. Inquiry also shifted to a mysterious woman who had been visiting the shop daily for the past month but did not turn up a day before and on the day of the crime. Police released CCTV footage of two suspects but they did not get any breakthrough as neither the jewellery shop staff nor eyewitness could identify them.Jewellery shop employees Rajan Yadav and Ritesh were interrogated but to no avail. The role of insiders was then ruled out.More than 100 phone numbers were checked and criminals involved in past incidents were also interrogated but police remained empty-handed.Meanwhile, traders continued to protest against the incident.

Despite promising to solve the case within 72 hours, no arrests have been made.Unable to get any leads, police have now announced a reward of Rs 1 lakh for any information on the attackers.A day after the March 2 incident, police began investigation for dacoity. They also claimed a west UP connection with the recovery of five .30 bore bullet shells, rarely used in Lucknow but used there. However, nothing came of it. Police released CCTV footage of two suspects but they did not get any breakthrough as neither the jewellery shop staff nor eyewitness could identify them.Jewellery shop employees Rajan Yadav and Ritesh were interrogated but to no avail. The role of insiders was then ruled out.More than 100 phone numbers were checked and criminals involved in past incidents were also interrogated but police remained empty-handed.Meanwhile, traders continued to protest against the incident. UP DGP OP Singh pulled up senior officers for laxity in policing and demanded an explanation from the SSP.Thereafter, police shifted to “revenge” theory and detained three persons involved in the case of murder of RK Gupta’s niece Shyam Gupta (24) in Barabanki.Police said that in dacoities, miscreants are more interested in valuables but here, they were on a shooting spree, suggesting that the motive was revenge on Gupta. Inquiry also shifted to a mysterious woman who had been visiting the shop daily for the past month but did not turn up a day before and on the day of the crime. But, this angle did not yield any result.On March 7, the revenge and murder theory yet again shifted to dacoity.On March 9, police and crime branch officials recreated the crime scene at the shop but in vain.On March 10, police said they suspected the role of shooters involved in the Naka loot of January 12.After failing to get any concrete evidence, SSP Lucknow Kalanidhi Naithani announced a reward of Rs 1 lakh for any information on the accused.
