Lucknow: Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Chief Mohan Bhagwat on Wednesday remembered several people including BJP veteran leader Lal Krishna Advani who played a pivotal role in realising the dream of a Ram mandir in Ayodhya. Bhagwat said, “So many people had sacrificed, they couldn`t be here physically. There are some who couldn`t come here, Advani ji must be at his home watching this. There are some who should`ve come but couldn`t be invited because of the current situation.”

Advani, 92, is remembered for his Ram Janmabhoomi campaign during the 90s. He launched a nationwide roadshow from the temple of Somnath in Gujarat to Ram Janmabhoomi sthal in Ayodhya in 1990. The veteran leader had garnered mass support for the construction of a Ram Temple in Ayodhya. In a video address on August 4, Advani welcomed the bhoomi pujan ceremony that paved the way for construction of a grand Ram temple in Ayodhya. He said it is a historical and emotional day for all Indians. "Sometimes significant dreams in one`s life take a long time, but when they are finally realised, the wait becomes very worthwhile. One such dream, close to my heart is now getting fulfilled,” Advani had said earlier.

Meanwhile, Bhagwat said that the RSS and other like-minded organisations worked for nearly 30 years to fulfil the resolve of a grand Ram temple in Ayodhya. Bhagwat was one of the selected invitees at the `bhoomi pujan` ceremony of a Ram temple at the site where a large number of Hindus believe Lord Ram was born. The RSS chief mentioned not only mentioned BJP patriarch L K Advani but also remembered late VHP leader Ashok Singhal among others for their contribution to the temple movement.
