Six labourers killed in Jaunpur road accident

Half a dozen labourers died when a UP State Road Transport Corporation bus hit a tractor in Jaunpur, police said on Monday. The accident took place near the Samadhganj market in the Sikrara police station area around 11:30 pm on Sunday, police said. A UPSRTC bus going from Prayagraj to Deoria hit a tractor carrying 12 labourers, killing six of them, said Additional Superintendent of Police (Rural) Shailendra Singh. Those who died in the accident were identified as Neeraj Saroj (28), Rajesh Saroj (45), Sangram Vishwakarma (25), C Mushar (20), Govind Bind (30) and Atul Saroj (30), all from Alishahpur village in Jaunpur. Singh said the mishap took place near Samadhganj market on Jaunpur-Prayagraj highway. He claimed that on Sunday, workers from Alishahpur village had gone to do roof molding work in Tohfapur village under Sikrara police station. After completion of the work, the workers were returning at 11:15 pm after loading the machine on a tractor trolley. As soon as the tractor moved ahead on the highway near Samadhganj, a Civil Lines Depot bus going from Prayagraj to Gorakhpur hit it hard from behind. The collision was so severe that the tractor was blown to pieces. Five people died on the spot while one more succumbed on the way to hospital. The bodies were sent for post-mortem. The bus and the tractor have been impounded and a detailed probe is underway in the matter. In another tragic accident on the Purvanchal Expressway on Monday, an SUV rammed into a truck from behind and flipped over several times. The incident was captured on CCTV cameras, and the video has gone viral on social media. According to reports, the SUV was travelling at a high speed when one of its tyres burst. The driver lost control and crashed into a truck ahead of the SUV. The SUV was going from Delhi to Varanasi. Six occupants of the SUV, including children, were injured in the mishap. They were rescued and taken to hospital in Ayodhya where two women were pronounced dead. In another horrific incident near Mathura on Monday morning, a car was found burnt on the road beside a farm. A charred body of a youth was also recovered from the car by the police. The incident occurred near Pandit Deendayal Dham on Parkham Road in the Farah police station area. According to eyewitnesses, some people nearby saw the car engulfed by fire and ran away. They informed the police about the incident. The police reached the spot and collected evidence. The body was taken into custody and sent for post-mortem. The identity and cause of death of the deceased are yet to be ascertained. Meanwhile after Kasganj, a major accident took place in Sultanpur when a bus full of devotees coming from Telangana overturned and about 24 people were injured on Monday morning. The injured were immediately admitted to the hospital where the condition of two of them was stated to be critical. The accident took place near Karaudi village of Jaisinghpur. According to information, the bus carrying the devotees overturned as the steering of the vehicle suddenly locked and the driver could not turn it and the bus overturned. The bus had left from Telangana three days ago and was taking the devotees to Ayodhya after having darshan of Kashi Vishwanath, but it met with an accident on the way.
