The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) unveiled its inaugural list of 25 candidates for the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections, primarily focusing on the western region of Uttar Pradesh. Among the candidates announced in the initial list are Majid Ali from Saharanpur, Shripal Singh from Kairana, and Dara Singh Prajapati from Muzaffarnagar. Vijendra Singh will represent the party in Bijnor, Surendra Pal Singh in Nagina (SC), and Mohammed Irfan Saifi in Moradabad. In Rampur, Zeeshan Khan has secured the BSP ticket, while Shaulat Ali will contest from Sambhal, Mujahid Hussain from Amroha, and Devvratt Tyagi from Meerut. The BSP has nominated Praveen Bainsal from Baghpat, Rajendra Singh Solanki from Gautam Buddh Nagar, Girish Chandra Jatav from Bulandshahr (SC), Abid Ali from Aonla, Anis Ahmad Khan from Pilibhit, and Dodaram Verma from Shahjahanpur (SC). The BSP nominated Hembabu Dhangar from Hathras seat, Kamalkant Upmanyu from Mathura, Pooja Amrohi from Agra, Ramniwas Sharma from Fatehpur Sikri, Satendra Jain Souli from Firozabad, Sarik Singh Baghel from Etawah, Kuldeep Bhadauria from Kanpur, Rajesh Kumar Dwivedi from Akbarpur, and Suresh Chandra Gautam from Jalaun. In January this year, Mayawati had asserted that the party would not form any alliances and would go solo in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. She criticised Akhilesh Yadav, with whom the party had formed an alliance in the 2019 polls. We will contest the upcoming Lok Sabha polls independently, she reiterated, dispelling rumours of potential alliances with other parties in Uttar Pradesh. These clarifications followed widespread speculation, fuelled by media reports, suggesting a possible alliance between the BSP and members of the INDIA bloc, including the Congress and the Samajwadi Party. Amidst these rumours, the BSP chief consistently denied any intentions of forming alliances, reiterating her stance on multiple occasions.
