Fight in Amethi between actor and a humble leader: Akhilesh

  • | Saturday | 18th May, 2024

Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav on Friday, along with former Congress president Rahul Gandhi, campaigned in Amethi Lok Sabha constituency. Akhilesh Yadav targeted Bharatiya Janata Party candidate in Amethi, Union minister Smriti Irani, saying the battle in the Congress stronghold was between actor and a humble leader. Sitting Amethi MP Smriti Irani is the BJP candidate while KL Sharma, a confidant of Gandhi family, is the congress candidate in Amethi. Rahul Gandhi lost the Amethi Lok Sabha seat to Smriti Irani in the 2019 elections. Smriti will soon be smriti (memory) for the people of Amethi as she has packed her bag after the INDIA bloc announced KL Sharma, a humble Congress leader, as its candidate, the SP chief said. Referring to the Ujjawala yojana under which free LPG connections have been provided to the rural households, Akhilesh Yadav said cylinder walon ne Amethi mein surrender kar diya hai. Chaar phase ke chunaav ke baad BJP charon khane chit ho gai hai (BJP has fallen flat after four phases of Lok Sabha elections). BJP is no longer making the tall claim of Abki Baar 400 Paar, the SP chief said and added, The actual meaning of this slogan is that the BJP will get only 143 seats out of total 543 seats in Lok Sabha. Akhilesh Yadav also targeted the two SP MLAs from Amethi district, Maharaji Prajapati and Rakesh Pratap Singh, who recently switched loyalty to the BJP. The BJP first framed Gayatri Prajapati in a false case and sent him to jail. Now they have surrendered before his wife Maharaji Prajapati for her support to win the Lok sabha election in Amethi, he said. Without naming the SP MLA Rakesh Pratap Singh, the SP chief said, He has recently been gifted a new vehicle by his new political masters. He is in the process of purchasing a new flat in Lucknow as recently he visited a couple of apartments. Akhilesh Yadav reminded the people about the unfulfilled promise made by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the 2022 UP assembly election regarding the stray cattle menace. The prime minister had promised to end the cattle menace during the assembly elections. So far no action has been taken and innocent people are still dying and farmers are suffering huge losses due to the damages caused by the stray animal to the standing crops, he said, adding that after over two years of state assembly elections, the farmers were forced to guard their agricultural fields round the clock. Playing the caste card, the SP chief reiterated his charge that the BJP intends to amend the Constitution to deprive the poor and disadvantaged sections of the society of their special rights and privileges enshrined in the Constitution. The BJP is conspiring to amend the Constitution to delete the provisions for reservation to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Other Backward Classes. We have to dislodge this party from power as it intends to amend the Constitution, the SP chief said. Akhilesh Yadav asserted that the INDIA bloc government would come to power on June 4 would work for the prosperity of the farmers by bringing legislation for giving guarantee for minimum support price for agricultural commodities.
