Rahul Gandhi reaches  Rae Bareli, visits  Hanuman temple

Amidst allegations of use of muscle power by Bharatiya Janata Party candidate Dinesh Pratap Singh to influence voters, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Monday visited Rae Bareli, the constituency from which he is contesting the ongoing Lok Sabha polls. Polling in Rae Bareli took place in the fifth phase of the ongoing elections on Monday. Rahul Gandhi is also contesting the Lok Sabha election from Wayanad in Kerala from where he is the sitting MP. On reaching Rae Bareli, Rahul offered prayers at Peepaleshwar Hanuman temple. He also visited some polling booths and met with the people who had cast their votes. Rahul Gandhi is contesting from Rae Bareli which was represented in the Lok Sabha five times by his mother Sonia Gandhi before she took the Rajya Sabha route to the Parliament this year. Earlier in the day, the former Congress chief arrived at Lucknow airport from New Delhi and left for Rae Bareli by road. Rahul Gandhi claimed in a post on X that a storm of change is sweeping the country. The people of India are fighting this election together and a storm of change is sweeping across the country. I am appealing to the entire country, including Amethi and Rae Bareli, to come out in large numbers and vote for the prosperity of your families, for your rights, for the progress of India, Rahul posted. Meanwhile, amidst report of fault in some electronic voting machines (EVMs), the social media handle of UP Congress alleged that BJP candidate Dinesh Pratap Singhs goon brother Awadhesh Singh is bullying voters with his henchmen at booth number 312 of Rae Bareli assembly constituency. He threatened Congress workers and took away their bags The UP Congress also shared a video of BJP workers alleged hooliganism in Hajipur of Gurubakshganj in Rae Bareli. In the video, BJP workers are seen beating up a Congress agent. Congress general secretary and in-charge of UP, Avinash Pandey, also took to social media platform X to raise the issue of problems in EVMs, alleging that it seems that the Election Commission of India has sent all the faulty EVMs to Rae Bareli.
