  • | Tuesday | 4th June, 2024

Uttar Pradeshs Director General of Police Prashant Kumar on Monday said that all preparations for the counting of votes polled in the Lok Sabha elections on Tuesday had been completed. Just as the voting was conducted peacefully, the counting of votes will also be done peacefully across the state, Kumar asserted. The DGP informed that the votes will be counted at 81 places in the state. More than one counting centre has been set up in many districts. According to Kumar, security personnel have been deployed as per the instructions of the Election Commission of India. He said that the innermost circle of the counting venue would be guarded by the central security forces, the middle circle by the jawans of Provincial Armed Constabulary and the outer circle by the local policemen. Kumar said that voting in seven phases in the state had been done in a violence-free and peaceful manner and this was a proof of the administration working in a fair manner. Meanwhile, Kumar claimed that police chiefs of all the districts have been alerted to deploy adequate force in all the sensitive points of the districts where any untoward incident could take place in reaction to the outcome of results or during the counting process. The DGP said that victory processions had been restricted by the ECI so the officers must ensure that no one was allowed to violate the guidelines.  Tight security in place for counting of votes   PNS | Lucknow Uttar Pradeshs Director General of Police Prashant Kumar on Monday said that all preparations for the counting of votes polled in the Lok Sabha elections on Tuesday had been completed.
