KGMU Doctor stung with dengue, 12th case of city

LUCKNOW: A male doctor working at King George's Medical University (KGMU) was on Tuesday tested positive with dengue virus. One case each was reported from Shahjahanpur and Sultanpur and two from Siddhartha Nagar.The last case of dengue was reported on June 24 that being of a 21 year old male resident of LDA colony, Kanpur road. "When we contacted him he denied the reports saying he was all fine and doesn't need any intervention or treatment and that the antibodies appearing in his tests are regular and nothing to be alarmed of. But we are going to physically contact him on Wednesday for taking further steps so that the virus is controlled and he is given proper treatment," said Dr GS Bajpai, chief medical officer (CMO), Lucknow district.Apart from him, four other cases of dengue were tested positive at KGMU's lab,belonging to other parts of the state. The 25 year old doctor working in the critical care department of KGMU became the 12th patient of dengue in Lucknow since January.A resident of Lajpat Nagar in Chowk , when report of the doctor came positive of the virus after being tested at KGMU's virology lab and the health department contacted him for taking further steps of containment, the doctor claimed to be healthy and having antibodies in his bodies after working closely with patients in the university.
