49 Maharashtra cops to be honoured

Police Medal for Meritorious Service will be conferred on 39 officers, including Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone II) Dnyaneshwar Chavan, Senior Police Inspector Pandurang Shinde, D.B. Forty nine personnel of Maharashtra Police — including eight from Mumbai Police, three from Thane City Police and one from Thane Rural Police — will be awarded Police Medals this year.

The medals are classified into three categories: Police Medal for Gallantry, Police Medal for Meritorious Service and President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service. This year, Police Medal for Gallantry will be conferred on six personnel of Gadchiroli police and Superintendent M. Rajkumar, who heads Yavatmal Police. President’s Medal for Distinguished Service will be awarded to Additional Director General (Training and Special Units) S. Jagannathan, Assistant Commissioner of Police Bajirao Bhosale, Crime Prevention, Thane police, and Police Sub Inspector Vinayak Rajput, Nandurbar police. Police Medal for Meritorious Service will be conferred on 39 officers, including Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone II) Dnyaneshwar Chavan, Senior Police Inspector Pandurang Shinde, D.B. Marg police station and six other officers of Mumbai Police. Mr. Chavan said, “It is a great honour and this is something that we strive for. It is always nice to get such recognition. The medal represents your entire service and the hard work that you put in and impacts people’s perception about you.” ACP Ravindra Wadekar (Dombivli Division) and ACP Shantaram Avasare (EOW and Cyber Cell) of Thane Police and Superintendent of Police Mahesh Patil, Thane Rural Police, will be also awarded the medal. Mr. Avasare said, “I feel honoured and humbled that my hard work has been recognised. Such recognition motivates us to keep up our efforts and serve the people and the country.” Chief Fire Officer P.S. Rahangdale, Deputy Chief Fire Officer R.A. Chaudhary and Leading Firemen Sudhakar Tambe and Nandkishor Bawalekar will be conferred with Fire Service Medals for Meritorious Service.
