Missing Thane woman found dead on tracks

A 41-year-old woman, who went missing from her Thane residence on Tuesday night, was found dead on the tracks between Thane and Mulund railway stations on Wednesday morning. The railway police, meanwhile, are checking CCTV camera footage along the railway tracks for clues. Early on Wednesday morning, the police received information that a woman in her 40s had been found dead on the railway tracks near Mulund a few hours earlier. Her family members approached the Wagle Estate police station Tuesday night and registered a missing person’s complaint. They will record statements of her family members after her last rites are completed, officers said.

The woman, Vaishali Jajoo (41), lived with her husband and 15-year-old son in Raheja Gardens in the Teen Haath Naka area of Thane (West), the police said. Her family members approached the Wagle Estate police station Tuesday night and registered a missing person’s complaint. CCTV clue “We checked the CCTV camera footage of her residential complex, and she was seen leaving the building around 8.30 p.m. on Tuesday, after which she went missing. She used to work with a private firm in Goregaon, and left shortly after she returned from work,” senior police inspector Ravikant Malekar, Wagle Estate police station, said. Early on Wednesday morning, the police received information that a woman in her 40s had been found dead on the railway tracks near Mulund a few hours earlier. A police team and Jajoo’s family members went to Agrawal Hospital in Mulund, where the body had been taken. The family members identified her, after which the Kurla Railway Police were contacted. “We have for the moment registered an accidental death report and are conducting further inquiries to find out exactly how she died,” Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central zone) Samadhan Pawar, Mumbai Railway Police, said. Trouble at workplace Sources said Jajoo was upset as she was facing an internal inquiry at her workplace. The police will send a team to her office in Goregaon on Thursday to make inquiries with her employers. They will record statements of her family members after her last rites are completed, officers said. The railway police, meanwhile, are checking CCTV camera footage along the railway tracks for clues.
