Woman held by Navi Mumbai police for duping jobseekers

Recently, a victim lodged a complaint against her in Satara district, prompting the local cops to alert the Navi Mumbai police. The police said Date ran a fake recruitment agency in Navi Mumbai. The anti-extortion cell of Navi Mumbai police has arrested a woman on the charge of cheating many youngsters of several lakhs of rupees by promising them jobs. In May 2016, she alleged, the agency promising her to get the job of a constable with the Railway Police Force, Kolkata. “They had cheated several others promising jobs to them in RPF, Railways and Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust,” said Tushar Doshi, deputy commissioner of police.

The cops have identified the accused as Jayashri Date. The police said Date ran a fake recruitment agency in Navi Mumbai. Recently, a victim lodged a complaint against her in Satara district, prompting the local cops to alert the Navi Mumbai police. In her complaint, the victim said she was duped of Rs 5.50 lakh by Date’s agency. In May 2016, she alleged, the agency promising her to get the job of a constable with the Railway Police Force, Kolkata. The accused even sent a ‘posting’ letter and other documents to her last year, which turned out to be fake. They later shut their office and went underground. “A case was also registered at the APMC police station against the accused following which we started the probe. The woman was then traced and arrested,” said an officer. Date’s husband Sunil, and other accused – Deepak Singh, Manish Singh, and one Sadique – are still on the run, the police said. “They had cheated several others promising jobs to them in RPF, Railways and Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust,” said Tushar Doshi, deputy commissioner of police.
