Mumbai rain: Vihar becomes 3rd lake to overflow

MUMBAI: Lake Vihar , which supplies water to Mumbai, became the third lake in the last one week that has started overflowing. BMC officials said that the lake is overflowing since 10.30 am on Monday.Mumbai city area has been receiving good rains since the last one week. Lake Tulsi and Lake Vihar are the two catchment area lakes which are situated in Mumbai city limits within the Sanjay Gandhi National Park The Tulsi lake started overflowing on July 9 and Modak Sagar lake on July 15.The BMC supplies 3,800 million litre water to the city on a daily basis, which is brought from the seven catchment area lakes namely Modak Sagar, Tulsi, Vihar, Tansa, Upper Vaitarna, Middle Vaitarna and Bhatsa.
