For the past three months, residents of Evershine Embassy society at Veera Desai Road, Andheri (West) are upset that garbage is being dumped on an open plot behind their building. Locals alleged that despite complaining to the civic administration and police, garbage is being dumped there. Some residents alleged that their complaints to Swachh Bharat app have gone unheard. Arti Salgaocar, a resident of Evershine Embassy society said that the movement of garbage dumper started about five months ago. "When we approached the ward office, they told us to approach the police as the garbage was being dumped on private land where they cannot do much." Meghna Pandey, another resident said that they lodged complaints on the Swacch Bharat App but in vain. "We lodged complaint in the morning and by evening it showed that the issue was resolved," said Pandey, adding that they have to open the case again. Residents complained that the activity is at peak between 3 am and 8 am. Prashant Gaikwad, assistant commissioner of K west ward said that an FIR has been filed against the owner of the plot under the Maharashtra Regional and Town Planning Act (MT&TP). We have also seized dumpers," said Gaikwad. He added that the owner had sought permission which we declined as we cannot allow anyone to dump debris within the city. The plot has already turned into a trash hill. Locals complained that the movement of trucks and earthmovers creates a lot of noise pollution at odd hours. Ravi Raja, Congress corporator and leader of Opposition said that he had asked the assistant commissioner of K west ward to resolve their problem. COMPLAINTS GO UNHEARD
