Nine-year-old Laxmi Walavi is one of the kids afflicted with tuberculosis (TB), undergoing ozone therapy at the Sewri TB Hospital. Laxmi, whose lungs are infected with the TB bacteria, has started showing improvements in her health after undergoing ozone therapy. Doctors treating her said that she is suffering from severe TB, but has slowly shown recovery after ozone therapy. The doctors claimed that six other children affected with TB have also shown improvements after ozone therapy. They are given ozone therapy two to five times a week. Ozone therapy was started for the adult patients in May 2017 at the TB Hospital. It was extended to children last month. In ozone therapy, a tube of oxygenated ozone mixed with saline is inserted inside the body of the patient. The ozone therapy machine emits ultra-violet light sparks which split oxygen into free molecules and forms 2% ozone and 98% oxygen. "The anti-TB medication is going on. But the ozone therapy is helping them to recovery. Many have gained weight and their immunity has improved. The therapy works as an anti-inflammatory and kills infections germs, bacteria, and virus," said Dr Amar Pawar, chief medical officer of the TB Hospital. Laxmi's mother Rekha said: "After ozone therapy, she has shown a lot of improvement."
