Drunk flyer molests IndiGo crew member, held

MUMBAI: A drunk flyer was offloaded from a Mumbai-Bengaluru IndiGo flight and arrested after he allegedly molested a 20-year-old female crew member on Tuesday. Airport police senior inspector Alka Mandve confirmed to TOI that they had arrested the unruly flyer for misbehaving with the crew member. The incident occurred when the crew member was receiving flyers on board flight 6E-825. I informed my senior of the incident before the flyer was offloaded with his baggage. Meanwhile police are collecting Gangappa's past flying details to check if he was involved in similar mischief in the past.

MUMBAI: A drunk flyer was offloaded from a Mumbai-Bengaluru IndiGo flight and arrested after he allegedly molested a 20-year-old female crew member on Tuesday. Bengaluru man Raju Gangappa has been accused of pressing the woman's back and making a lewd comment while entering the plane. The incident delayed the flight, which was to take off at around 9.30pm, by half an hour.Gangappa, who is in the publishing business, was on an official visit to Mumbai and was flying back when he committed the offence. The incident occurred when the crew member was receiving flyers on board flight 6E-825. Immediately after the incident, the woman alerted the pilot and the flight superintendent. In her complaint, she said, "The flyer pressed my back and when I retaliated, he abused me verbally. I informed my senior of the incident before the flyer was offloaded with his baggage."The on-board officials informed the IndiGo flight incharge who called Central Industrial Security Force officials and detained Gangappa.Informed of the IndiGo molestation incident, CISF officials escorted the woman and the accused to the airport police station where an FIR was registered at around 11pm on Tuesday. The flight got delayed because the airline had to arrange for backup crew before taking off. Airport police senior inspector Alka Mandve confirmed to TOI that they had arrested the unruly flyer for misbehaving with the crew member. However, she declined to divulge any further details.Gangappa has been booked under the Indian Penal Code section 354 (outraging the modesty of a woman). He was produced before the Andheri court on Wednesday and has been remanded in police custody till Thursday. Meanwhile police are collecting Gangappa's past flying details to check if he was involved in similar mischief in the past.
