Brace yourself for surge pricing on Uber and Ola as the drivers for the two mobile cab aggregators are going on a strike starting on Sunday midnight. The Maharashtra Rajya Rashtriya Kamgar Sangh (MRRKS), which is supporting the drivers, has said a protest walk has been organised between Lalbaug to Vidhan Bhavan on Monday to register a protest with Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. Sunil Borkar, leader of MRRKS said, "We are going to carry out a protest march on Monday morning. The drivers have decided not to run cabs on Sunday and Monday. While several promises were made, the demands of the aggrieved drivers have not been fulfilled yet." Earlier this month, the drivers had withdrawn their strike after 12 days on November 2, after the transport minister gave an assurance that their demands will be addressed. They were assured of an outcome by Diwali. The drivers are demanding an increase in the per kilometre rate, waiting time and their minimum guaranteed fare. According to the drivers, since their demands that the fare be increased as per the rise in fuel prices, waiting charges and re-listing of black-listed drivers have not been addressed, they are protesting again. Uber and Ola did not comment on the matter.
