Flight carrying Sena netas returns to Mumbai

MUMBAI: A GoAir A320Neo flight to Delhi was forced to return to Mumbai on Thursday after the engine developed problems mid-air. A GoAir spokesperson said the aircraft turned back due to a technical glitch and that rectification work was in progress. The experience briefly caused panic among the Sena corporators and office-bearers who are on a “study tour” to Delhi. The return to Mumbai, after which we reached Delhi post-3pm, disrupted our schedule.” The trip has been organised by Thane MP Rajan Vichare to help the local netas get a feel of Parliament and also do some sight-seeing.

MUMBAI: A GoAir A320Neo flight to Delhi was forced to return to Mumbai on Thursday after the engine developed problems mid-air. Around 40 Shiv Sena corporators and office-bearers from Thane were on the flight.The incident came two days after the government gave the US engine manufacturer Pratt and Whitney a clean chit for the snag-prone engines that power the A320Neo aircraft operated by GoAir and IndiGo.GoAir Mumbai-Delhi flight G8 319 departed around 10am and turned back after an engine problem that led to severe vibrations. A GoAir spokesperson said the aircraft turned back due to a technical glitch and that rectification work was in progress. “Postnormal landing, all passengers were immediately accommodated on to another aircraft for their journey to Delhi,” the spokesperson said, adding the crew operated within the established guidelines to provide for safe travel. The experience briefly caused panic among the Sena corporators and office-bearers who are on a “study tour” to Delhi. The trip has been organised by Thane MP Rajan Vichare to help the local netas get a feel of Parliament and also do some sight-seeing. Vichare himself was not travelling with the group and was in Delhi.One of the corporators on the flight said, “Initially we all panicked as we had no idea what the snag was about. The return to Mumbai, after which we reached Delhi post-3pm, disrupted our schedule.”
