Calling the incident an “attack on the nation”, Pawar stated, “Today, the entire nation stands with the families of the martyred soldiers. “Before 2014 elections, Modi was criticising Manmohan Singh government saying it did not have the courage to teach a lesson to Pakistan. He said only those with a 56-inch chest can teach a lesson to Pakistan. Now what happened in Pulwama is in front of us,” Pawar said, addressing the media in his constituency, Baramati, in Pune district. We need to stand as a unified strong nation to fight back such attacks,” he said.

Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar on Friday stated that he did not want to politicise Thursday's terror attack which claimed our soldiers in Pulwama, but wanted to remind Prime Minister Narendra Modi of the statements he had made against the UPA government for its handling of relations with Pakistan during the 2014 election campaign. Calling the incident an “attack on the nation”, Pawar stated, “Today, the entire nation stands with the families of the martyred soldiers. We need to stand as a unified strong nation to fight back such attacks,” he said. The former defence minister accused Pakistan of providing support for attacks on Indian soil. “Such large amounts of explosives are usually available with the army. Since the terrorists can't get these explosives from Indian army, it is very clear that they got the supply from Pakistan,” he said. PAWAR PLAY ‘This is not the time to politicise the issue but PM Modi has painted a picture that he is the only one who can teach lesson to Pakistan, but such attacks prove that he has failed completely.’
